U.S. DOE 2005 Solar Decathlon Competition Entry

The original design for the house was created by a student architect, and this formed the starting point for the team effort over the following three semesters. Architecturally, the idea behind the design was that it touched the earth lightly (was raised above the landscape), a metaphor for creating a smaller footprint on the environment. The curved roof form reflected the arc of the sun (though not literally).
